Follow a favorite mystery into the shelves
Tell the booksellers at Mysterious Book Shop a crime writer you enjoy, and they can help you find your next mystery. The staff read across mystery and true crime, while the stock ranges from new hardcovers and paperbacks to used books, signed first editions and rare collectibles. Espionage has a place here too, alongside a substantial interest in Sherlock Holmes.

Share barbecue, then take the microphone
Gunbae puts beef, chicken and pork on the grill at your table, a short distance from the bookshop on Murray Street. You can build dinner around marinated boneless short rib, thin slices of brisket or thick-cut pork belly. The HanSang sharing combination brings meats together with soft tofu stew, dumplings, banchan and an egg pot, plus lettuce and ssamjang for making wraps.
West St
Play a round beside the Hudson
For an outdoor afternoon with children or friends, Pier 25 at Hudson River Park has activities you can join as well as water to look out over. Its seasonal 18-hole miniature golf course sits alongside sand volleyball courts and a turf field. Children have a playground with climbing structures and water-play features; a snack bar adds a food stop on the pier.
Hudson River Greenway
Walk above a salt marsh
Just north of the games, Pier 26 at Hudson River Park brings you through habitats associated with Manhattan before development. Woodland gives way to coastal grassland and maritime scrub, then a rocky tidal zone and the Hudson itself. Indigenous planting changes the texture of the walk as you move outward, from trees and grasses toward the exposed river.

See a cult film or rare classic at the Roxy
Roxy Cinema New York gives independent filmmakers, foreign cinema and rare classics space on its screen. You can also find cult films and documentaries in its programming, making it an inland alternative to the waterfront stops. The cinema occupies the cellar of the Roxy Hotel on Sixth Avenue, with 118 seats in an Art Deco setting.
