Books and creative work at Tremont Library
Readers have been coming to Tremont Library since 1905, and you can still spend part of your visit reading inside its distinctive historic interior. The red-brick Carnegie branch stands at Washington Avenue and East 176th Street. Carrère and Hastings designed the original building and returned for its 1915–16 extension.

Community gardens and play at Walter Gladwin Park
Neighbors working with Friends of Tremont Park tend the planting beds and organize gardening, cleanups, arts and crafts, and community gatherings here. You can follow the tree-lined paths, sit beside the lawns or make the playgrounds your main destination with children. Tremont Playground sits near East Tremont and Arthur Avenues; another play area is at East 175th Street and Arthur Avenue.
Crotona Ave & E. 173d St
