Intrepid Museum: the ship and the people aboard
Sailors' oral histories bring the working lives aboard an aircraft carrier into the Intrepid Museum. You explore the ship itself, walking its decks and comparing military aircraft, including a restored World War II Corsair featured alongside crew accounts and hands-on material. Intrepid served during World War II, the Cold War and Vietnam, and later recovered NASA capsules. Its machinery gets attention, too: the Engines and Boilers experience uses 3D recreations to let you try running engines, fueling boilers and steering.

Pier 84: a picnic out on the Hudson
Children can step into the interactive fountain at Pier 84 at Hudson River Park in warm weather; farther out, you can settle on a gently sloping lawn with food and watch boats pass. Between Intrepid and Circle Line, the pier reaches almost 1,000 feet into the Hudson. A community garden and dog run sit along the way, with open river views replacing the museum's enclosed shipboard spaces.

Circle Line: follow the skyline around the river
A live guide supplies the history and stories as you pass the waterfront aboard Circle Line Sightseeing Cruises. Boats leave from Pier 83, beside Pier 84. On the Landmarks cruise, the route follows the Hudson past Little Island and One World Trade Center, approaches the Statue of Liberty from the water, then passes beneath the Brooklyn, Manhattan and Williamsburg Bridges before returning. Seeing those bridges from below gives this route a distinctly different view from the waterfront lawn.
