Sunday at Forest Hills Greenmarket
Bread Alone’s breads and pastries are among the draws at Forest Hills Greenmarket, held Sundays year-round beside MacDonald Park and the post office. You can put together a basket around a loaf, orchard fruit and cheese from Valley Shepherd, with the fruit changing through the seasons.
1 Tennis Pl
Live music in a former tennis bowl
Bob Dylan played an acoustic set here in 1965, then returned with the Hawks and an electric guitar to a divided crowd. Today, you come to Forest Hills Stadium for an outdoor concert within the architecture of a former championship tennis venue. The 13,000-capacity bowl hosts a concert program spanning genres, with renovations designed around clear sightlines and sound.
106-03 Metropolitan Ave
A movie night at Cinemart
Moviegoers have a separate destination south of the stadium on Metropolitan Avenue: Cinemart Cinemas. You’ll find first-run films here, with a program that includes thrillers, horror, animation and other mainstream releases.
Powered leather recliners let you settle back for the screening, and concessions supply the movie snacks. Cinemart is east of the painting studio and comic shop farther along Metropolitan Avenue, making a film a possible companion to browsing comics or working on a painting.
97-14 Metropolitan Ave
Paint with an artist, or work independently
Artists lead you through a painting at Painting with a Twist, farther west on Metropolitan Avenue. The paint-and-sip sessions begin with a defined project, with instruction as you work through the image and its colors. Date nights and trivia themes put a social activity around the painting, while family sessions give adults and children a way to make art together.

Comics and collector conversations at Royal
Royal Collectibles’ staff help readers find a first comic and advise collectors looking deeper into the shelves. You can browse Silver Age through modern comic books, graphic novels, toys and statues at this family-owned shop near the painting studio. The range lets you look for older issues or leave with a longer story collected in a graphic novel.

What architectural details can I see around Forest Hills Station Square?
Look at the station and the paving together: both were planned as parts of Station Square’s design.
Forest Hills railroad station was designed by Grosvenor Atterbury as part of the group of buildings around the square. Construction began in 1912 and finished the following year.
Station Square brick pavement carries intersecting crosses of the Union Jack, a pattern Frederick Law Olmsted Jr. designed to recall Forest Hills Gardens’ early roots. During restoration, many original bricks were cleaned and reused.
