Effective July 31, 2026. The short version: we collect almost nothing, we never sell what we do collect, and every email we send has a one-click way out.
What we collect
Your email address, only if you give it to us. There are three ways that happens: subscribing to the Thursday newsletter, setting a “remind me” for an event, emailing yourself a plan, or starting or joining a crew. That is the only personal information we ask for. There are no accounts, no passwords, and no profiles.
Anonymous usage counts. When someone taps Share on an event or sets a reminder, we count it. The count is a number attached to the event, not to you.
Preferences on your own device. If you use filters or save your email for faster form-filling, that lives in your browser’s local storage. It never leaves your device and we cannot see it.
Standard analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people visit. It sets cookies and collects data as described in Google’s privacy policy. We see aggregates, not individuals.
Crews: Reddit username, age, how you identify, and your email, only if you start or join one. A crew page shows members’ Reddit usernames, ages, and any intro line you choose to write. The username is deliberately public: it is the one identity anyone can check before agreeing to meet, and the host needs it to invite you to the crew’s Reddit group chat. Your email is never shown. How you identify appears only in aggregate lines like “2 women, 1 guy” and powers the host’s composition rules (women-only, balanced-mix). Crew records are deleted automatically one week after the event date. Hosts confirm who showed up; a silent no-show means a two-week timeout from crews, recorded against the Reddit username or email only for those two weeks.
What we do with your email
Exactly what we said when you gave it to us: the Thursday list, morning-of reminders for events you asked about, and updates about crews you are in. We never sell, lend, or share your email with anyone. Emails are delivered through Resend, our email provider, which processes addresses solely to deliver our mail.
Opting out and deleting your data
Every email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link. If you want your address removed from our records entirely, email support@dothisnyc.com and we will delete it.
What we never do
- Sell, rent, lend, or trade your email, Reddit username, or any other data about you.
- Show fake counts or invented social proof. Every number on the site is real.
- Track you across other websites.
Children
DoThis NYC is a general-audience site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the effective date above changes with it. Material changes to how we handle email will be announced in the newsletter itself.
